We can’t believe summer is almost over! Before cooler days make their way here (Yes, lots of hopeful wishing ) we thought it was a must to gather all of our hard working professionals together to unwind. On Friday, August 28 from 6-9pm we’re settling in at the Bolden Bar at the People’s Health New Orleans Jazz Market (1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, NOLA 70113)
We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for this month. 1st and most important, we celebrate 10 years of change since Hurricane Katrina. While this is still a difficult day to relive, we see it as the beginning of our journey in NOLA and as young adults. All five of our co-founders embarked on a new journey approx. two weeks before the storm as college freshman moving to New Orleans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana. I’ll speak for the team and say we had no idea what was ahead of us, however, it has been a
n experience that we can never forget and the reason we have called this our home for nearly a decade. In commemoration of this monumental day, we ask you to join our team on Saturday, August 29 for a city-wide day of service.
2nd, NolaBlackProfessionals.com has reached its 3 year anniversary. To help us celebrate, we are asking our professionals to donate and/or sign-up for Take A Professional To School Day (TAPS). You can make a simple monetary donation or buy a drink at the bar. Upon arrival you will receive a card that you can show to the bartender and at the end of the night 20% of the total spent will go to TAPS. Most important, we will need approx. 60 great professionals to sign-up to take part in our High School Takeover (Think Take Your Daughter/Sons to Work Day meets Career Day meets a student-friendly block party…) Where exactly are your funds headed you ask? Items such as sound equipment, entertainment, food, gift cards, awards and more.
Last but not least, let’s network and unwind! RSVP HERE [contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]

More about NOJO and the Bolden Bar:
NOJO’s first building project, The Peoples Health New Orleans Jazz Market, is a performing arts venue and Jazz community center in Central City New Orleans. The Jazz Market features music education experiences for all ages, a New Orleans Jazz Archive, tributes to current and past Jazz Masters, and performances by Irvin Mayfield, NOJO and other renowned musicians.
The Bolden Bar in the Jazz Market opens every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 5:00pm, with live music nightly; each night is free and open to the public. The venue was named in honor of famed Central City resident and Jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden (1877-1931). April 9-11 will debut a new “Taste. Wear. See. Hear.” happy hour series; the bar will present cocktail, wine and restaurant tastings on Thursdays, fashion brands and designers on Fridays, and both visual art and book premieres on Saturdays. The bar program was designed by respected sommelier and hospitality professional Sara Kavanaugh with bar manager Mark Reuther, in collaboration with Irvin Mayfield.
